10027: Everything You Need To Know
We did it! We made 10027 a reality in all the ways we imagined (and more) WITH YOUR SUPPORT. We connected dancers, connected locations, connected generations, connected people. We connected the 10027 neighborhood through a joyous shared dance experience. The seniors, legendary dancers and folks of the community, led the way, shining, visible and stunningly beautiful.
The event happened because you were there and went along with us on the journey. We cannot thank you enough.
We would love to hear from you, share what moved you to support this project. Many folks have written, came to see or be a part of 10027 multiple times over the weekend.
Again, your help made 10027 come to fruition, so many are grateful….
“Blown Away, Inspired, Emotionally Affected….As well as inspired by the participants, it was positive to experience the commitment to inter-generational activities of the young adult dancers. I was touched by the entire experience.” audience member at Morningside Gardens
“You rock!!!” volunteer crew from the NYPD teen explorers club
“a totally inspiring event!” audience member at Grant Houses
“soooo good. I love Dances for a Variable Population. At 62 this has changed my life.” 10027 participant
“I want to tell you about a comment my friend made. She had moved to Morningside Gardens about a year ago and did not know many people. She told me that by attending your dance program she felt part of her community for the first time ever. She and her baby stayed for the whole performance.” friend of one of the performers
“An older man from the neighborhood told me how impressed he was. He said he hadn’t ever seen his community members as motivated! I encouraged him to check out the website for classes.” Crew member and founding DVP dancer
“THANK YOU for a fabulous evening! Bravo! It was so stimulating and beautiful!” audience member from downtown (another neighborhood)
