Our tuition-based classes in Fitness and Dance are taught from a “dancer’s point of view” with an emphasis on proper alignment, correct form, efficiency and a balanced practice. Our teachers are certified in a range of methodologies from Pilates, Yoga, MFA dance programs to the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and versed in movement for older bodies. We work towards greater mobility, improved balance, fuller expression, increased flexibility and strength.

NOTE: Please register at least 30 minutes before class begins. If you attempt to register after class has started, you will be unable to join. However, if you have already registered and received the Zoom link prior to the start of class, you will be able to join in the event that you are late.

Description of Classes:
Basic Fitness: Think of your body as a dancer thinks! Understanding correct alignment and posture with a recognition of a proprioception and sensation. The class encourages the somatic connection of mind and body in strength and cardio vascular training, finishing with a mindful mediation. Watch a sample class with Naomi here!
Modern Dance for Life: A fluid progression of warming up the body from the large muscle groups to the periphery. Followed by a variety of classical dance styles of Limon, Horton and Cunningham mixed with contemporary techniques. Appropriate for the dancer returning to the studio or for dancers new to modern dance. Barefoot or soft shoes recommended. Watch a sample class with Gierre here! Cardio Dance Party: an energetic session of stretch, cardio workout informed by simple moves of salsa, merengue, and samba.
MOVEMENT SPEAKS® Plus (Coming Sept 2020 4:00 to 5:15 PM EST): A class for structured learning of dance and movement improvisation. An opportunity to discover the ways you like to move and move more! Appropriate for all bodies and all varieties of dance skills. Fitness added for increased strength!
