DVP featured in NYC Dept of Aging Senior News
The NYC Dept of Aging’s Feb 2014 Newsletter featured an article about DVP.
You have fabulous dancers here at Leonard Covello!” Naomi Goldberg Hass, creator of Dances for a Variable Populationrecently told the enthusiastic audience gathered in the Manhattan senior center’s cafeteria. Haas and her troupe of dancers were presenting “Dances for Seniors,” a free performance/interactive workshop especially structured for the elderly. “We’re here to show you that movement is accessible to everyone!
The energy of the seven dancers who joined Haas in the performance segment of “Dances for Seniors” was infectious. Within minutes, a center member was out of her chair and following the performers’ movements, while others smiled, swayed and tapped their feet. When Haas created a large circle of chairs and invited the audience to participate, close to half left their seats to join the dancers in the circle.
